30-day Ramadan Photo Challenge – Details and background

I thought it would be fun to dare myself to a 30-day photo challenge. For some reason I decided to do it during Ramadan which made the challenge that much harder. To come up with a concept, shoot it, edit it and post it in one day is hard enough let alone doing it hungry and thirsty and tired. The good news is that in Egypt work hours are shortened during Ramadan but I only had a 3 hour window before iftar (breakfast). This is because I know that after Iftar i would not be able to move let alone do anything else. There were days where I had to work on the challenge after iftar however they were few. There were even times where I only had a 2-hour window instead of 3.

The details of the challenge were, while fasting are

  • I had to create a photo from scratch, not edit an existing photo that I took in the past. This was hard enough but as you can tell I like things in threes, so I decided to create three photos from scratch instead of one.

  • Post the three photos each day during the month of Ramadan.

  • Come up with a different concept for each day. .

However, I think the real value is in what I learned from the challenge itself, check out things that i learned from the challenge like “Done Is Better Than Perfect”,  “Taking vs. Creating Photos”, and “Precision Can Make You More Creative”.
